Chapter 17 Nicholas Island （A）

Freeman, the captain took the periscope and ordered to Sean Etta:’Check the exact position of the submarine, find out situation of the **all island!’

波埃特领命而去。

The officer Etta accepted the command then to go away.

Captain Freeman steadied periscope observation after 20 seconds, then to give the periscope to Clark.

‘It will come to shore.’ Freeman said.

‘Yes, I have seen.’ Clark said.

Standing in the highlands of the north over the south overlooking, can see gentle hillside where covered by pieces of buildings.

与北岛相连的南岛则是另外一种景象。在落潮的时候，人们可以乘越野车驶过平坦的沙滩来到南岛。这里风光秀丽，设计者一开始就将这儿做成了一个休闲、旅游、度假的好地方。客人们可以在这儿弄潮、冲浪、尽兴游玩。在小山坡上，建有许多别具风格的小型别墅，专供客人们居住。在山坡的另一侧，还有两幢五六层楼高的白色建筑物，被围墙牢牢围住。那便是贝特·道格拉斯公司的“生命隧道”所在处。

太阳落山以前，克拉克他们从潜望镜中发现“圣玛丽亚号”重新驶出了港口。这时它已经将那几只恒温集装箱卸下，重新登上了未完的旅途。他们还发现，那些集装箱被陆续运进了小岛中部的建筑群。

克拉克一行和弗里曼艇长开了个小型会议。

After dark, in order to further obtain evidence, we are going to the island for reconnaissance, and return at four o’clock in the morning tomorrow. 几名水兵匆忙登上甲板担任警戒。弗里曼艇长和克拉克等人随后也跟了上去。

海风阵阵吹来，让人感到十分惬意。

‘Open above manhole cover.’

A few sailors guarded in a hurry get on the deck. Then the Captain Freeman and Clark followed them up.

他们这些人朝东急行军不到一英里，来到了路边上。公路的另一侧是八英尺高的铁丝网，两边都看不到头。克拉克向同伴们做了个手势，他们立刻隐蔽起来。

‘See you next morning!’ Clark said.
